California beats Southern Boone

In boys tournament

CALIFORNIA, Mo. — There might have been a sense of deja vu for the California Pintos.

After blasting Southern Boone last Friday in a Tri-County Conference game, California handed the Eagles another defeat with a 74-52 victory in the opening round of the California Tournament on Tuesday.

Second-seeded California led seventh-seeded Southern Boone 19-12 after one quarter, 42-28 at halftime and 56-36 after three periods.

Damon Shaw and Dylan Albertson both scored 19 points to pace the Pintos.

California (7-3) plays Mexico in a Thursday semifinal.
