Blue Tiger men shine

COLUMBIA - Winston Edwards won the 600 meters, leading the Lincoln men's indoor track and field team to 11 overall top-10 finishes at the Missouri Opener on Friday.

The Blue Tigers also took first in the 400-meter relay at the one-day meet, which was hosted by the University of Missouri.

Edwards was one of four Lincoln athletes to finish among the top-11 in the 600, winning the race with a time of 1:23.07. Neville Daley placed fourth, Roger Blake was sixth, and Derrick Wilmore finished 11th.

Edwards and Blake joined forces with Michael Ashley and Stallone Watson to take the crown in the 400-meter relay in 3:26.17.

Watson finished as the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles and also took placed fifth in the 200.

Ashley was a fourth-place finisher in the 800, while Khorey Spalding placed third in the 200 and finished eighth in the 60. Nicholus Grant added a 10th-place finish in the 200, and Darran Hunter placed eighth in the long jump.

The Lincoln men will return to action next weekend when the Blue Tigers travel to Champaign, Illinois to compete in the University of Illinois' Illini Classic.
