Callaway schools plan snow makeup days

With winter weather and hazardous road conditions causing cancellations for the third day this week, Callaway County school administrators shared their districts' plans for making up the missed class time.

South Callaway R-II Superintendent Kevin Hillman told his school board Wednesday night that students would be going to school on Jan. 20 and Feb. 17 to make up the two days already missed at that point, and that "anything else would be added on to the end of the year."

New Bloomfield R-III Superintendent David Tramel said Thursday his students also will be attending school on built-in snow days - March 19, April 17 and April 22 - for the days missed thus far.

"If we have another one, we have two more built into the calendar at the end of the year," Tramel said. "I'm hoping the snow is over for the year.
