Four area residents hurt in accidents

A Tuscumbia man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 10 a.m. Monday on Missouri 17 at Jim Henry Road in Miller County.

According to the Highway Patrol, Henry M. Vedenhoupt, 57, lost control of his southbound 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the icy road and went off the west side of the road, striking a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, Joseph T. Vedenhoupt, 31, was taken to Capital Region Medical Center.

Both were wearing seat belts.

• Two Camdenton residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:14 p.m. Monday on Route D south of West Lake Park in Camden County.

The patrol said a 1990 Dodge Caravan, driven northbound by Scott N. Shepard, 35, went out of control on an icy road, crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Suzuki XL7, driven southbound by Erik J. Rohlik, 51.

Shepard and a passenger in the Rohlik vehicle, Melissa J. Rohlik, 55, were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

Shepard was not wearing a seat belt. Both Rohliks were wearing seat belts.

• A Fulton man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday on Route NN south of County Road 414 in Callaway County.

According to the patrol report, a 1998 Ford Explorer, driven southbound by Thomas H. Kight, 47, slid on the snow-covered road, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.

Kight was taken to Callaway Community Hospital.

He was wearing a seat belt.
