Troop F traffic fatalities decline in '13

In 2013, fatalities in the 13 counties that encompass Troop F of the Missouri Highway Patrol decreased by 15 percent.

There were 53 fatalities in the troop in 2013, compared to 62 in 2012.

But the number of fatalities didn't drop in all of the counties of Troop F.

For eight area counties in the 12-county troop, the results were mixed.

The number of fatalities increased in Cole, Callaway and Miller counties.

Counties that saw a decrease in fatalities included Boone, Camden, Moniteau and Osage counties.

Morgan County had the same number of fatalities in 2012 and 2013.

Troop F Commander Capt. Gregory Kindle said, "We will continue to vigorously enforce all traffic laws related to impaired and aggressive driving. Through our education efforts, we will continue emphasizing the importance of wearing a seat belt. Our goal is for fatalities to continue to decrease every year."
