BizBeat: Taste of Jefferson City welcomes legislators
Sunday, January 5, 2014
Wednesday marks the first day of the Legislative session in Missouri, and to celebrate, the Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Taste of Jefferson City.
Missy Bonnot, Director of Economic Development, said the event will feature samples from approximately 40 vendors and see 400-500 visitors. Tickets for the event, which will be held at Capitol Plaza Hotel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, can be purchased in advance or at the door and cost $60 each.
The purpose of the event is twofold, Bonnot said. It is to both welcome the Missouri General Assembly back to their “home away from home,” and to give Chamber members in the food and beverage industry a chance to show off their products.
“The economic impact of the General Assembly while they are in session is huge,” Bonnot said. “They spend a lot of time and money here, making a huge contribution.”
The night will give local food providers a chance to showcase their business to this large and active customer base, Bonnot noted. “It is certainly a great opportunity to market to that clientele.”
The event is open to the public and the ticket price covers the event itself. Vendors are able to showcase their product for just the cost of their supplies.
“We’ve been having the event for many years and it gets bigger and better each year,” Bonnot said.
