Richardson seeks third term as prosecutor

Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson formally announced Wednesday that he would seek re-election for a third term.

The Republican noted his successful prosecution of the first death penalty sentence by the Cole County Prosecutor's Office since the 1990s and his successful supervision in civil litigation involving the seizure of assets as an effort to recoup funds for victims as highlights from his latest term in office.

"I will continue to give my full attention to presenting cases in court as I believe a prosecutor's job is to try cases in the courtroom to help our community be a safer place to live," Richardson said.

Richardson has been prosecutor for the past seven years. Prior to that, he served as Jefferson City municipal judge for seven years and was an assistant prosecutor for Cole County from 1985-92. He was an assistant attorney general from 1984-85.
