Holts Summit man must repay auto dealer in theft attempt

A Holts Summit man has been ordered to pay restitution in connection with the attempted theft of parts from vehicles at a car dealer in Jefferson City in October 2012.

Michael Rogers, 55, pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor theft.

According to police reports, an officer doing a security check at Corwin Honda, 3215 Missouri Blvd., interrupted Rogers attempting to steal catalytic converters off vehicles on the back lot.

He fled on foot to a nearby vehicle and fled the scene.

Other officers responding to the area found the suspect vehicle crashed at the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and South Country Club Drive.

Rogers was located in some brush nearby.
