JC man charged with assault on woman

A Jefferson City man has been charged with assaulting a woman while she was in a shower.

Shawn Armstrong, 43, was charged with second-degree domestic assault, second-degree assault on a law officer and resisting arrest.

Court documents show Armstrong was involved in a verbal argument Sunday with the woman at a residence in the 1800 block of Woodclift Drive.

The female began taking a shower before gathering her things to leave when Armstrong came into the bathroom and tore the shower curtain and curtain rod from the shower.

He then began to hit the woman with the rod and eventually dragged her out of the shower by her hair and around the house.

Armstrong then brought the woman back to the shower and began spraying her with hot water.

When police officers arrived, Armstrong punched an officer in the face and then refused to be handcuffed.
