Library director leaving for post in Wichita
Last chapter at MRRL
Thursday, February 20, 2014
Missouri River Regional Library (MRRL) is searching for a new director.
Director Helen Rigdon submitted her resignation Feb. 5 because she has accepted a position as a senior librarian and branch manager with the Wichita Public Library in Kansas.
Rigdon has served as director of the library since January 2011. Her last day at MRRL is April 4.
“This was not an easy decision for me to make but the lure of being back closer to home and my family was the deciding factor,” Rigdon said in her resignation letter. “I appreciate everything that has been done for me, and I will truly miss everyone.”
The library’s board is in the process of updating the director’s job description, as well as forming a director’s search committee to help with the hiring.
The MRRL board was also told at a Tuesday meeting:
• The library has created an annual report that will be available for patrons on the library’s website, www.mrrl.org.
• The Missouri Library Association’s Legislative Day is rescheduled for March 4.
• The MRRL Foundation’s Mini Golf event is from 5-9 p.m., Saturday at the library.
