Girls Basketball: St. Elizabeth 41, South Callaway 31

MOKANE, Mo. - Allie Heckemeyer surpassed the 1,000 career-point mark and the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets held off South Callaway for a 41-31 Show-Me Conference victory Tuesday night.

Heckemeyer finished with a game-high 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Savannah Stiles added 11 points to help lead St. Elizabeth.

The teams were tied at 11 after the first quarter, but the Lady Hornets outscored South Callaway 11-6 in the second quarter to take a 22-17 lead at halftime. St. Elizabeth took a 30-20 lead into the final period and held off the Lady Bulldogs down the stretch to earn its ninth win in 10 games.

Taylor Howard also surpassed the 1,000 career-point mark by tallying 16 points to lead South Callaway (10-11).

St. Elizabeth (16-7, 6-2) will host Calvary Lutheran on Friday.

The Lady Hornets' junior varsity team suffered a 12-8 loss in a one-quarter game to finish the season with an 8-3 record.
