Helias boys fall to Hickman

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Helias Crusaders fell behind in the second quarter and could not recover as the Hickman Kewpies claimed a 68-52 win Friday night.

Helias, ranked seventh in Class 4, remained even with Hickman, No. 4 in Class 5, after the first quarter, but the Kewpies outscored the Crusaders 17-8 in the second quarter to take a 29-20 halftime lead.

Helias outscored Hickman 18-17 in the third but still trailed 46-38 entering the final period, where the Kewpies claimed a 22-14 scoring advantage.

Collin Caywood scored 16 points, while Hale Hentges and Isiah Sykes both chipped in with 11 for the Crusaders.

Helias (16-5) will travel Tuesday to Father Tolton.

In the junior varsity game, Helias came away with a 69-62 win. Chase Bexten scored 23 points, while Trevor Koelling and Weston Porter both added 14 to lead the Crusaders (12-5).
