BizBeat: Corwin Automotive Group purchases Fletcher Kia

Corwin Automotive Group has added a new brand to its Jefferson City business after purchasing neighboring Fletcher Kia last week.

Corwin General Manager Pat Kittle said the car dealership closed on the sale Wednesday.

"It's a great opportunity for customers in Mid-Missouri," Kittle said. With four franchises under one name, "We really are a one-stop shop for your automotive needs."

Kittle said Corwin is excited to take on the new brand and sees a lot of opportunity in adding Kia to its offerings. The new owners will immediately implement a few changes such as adding more staff as well as more inventory of both new and used vehicles to the Kia lot.

"We hope to retain everyone that is currently working there," Kittle said.

Corwin Automotive Group, based out of Fargo, N.D., recently celebrated 100 years in the automobile business. It expanded into Jefferson City in September 2010 with two franchises and has now expanded to four. The Automotive Group also owns a Dodge dealership in Springfield.

"Just as a whole, we're really excited about this. We are proud to be a part of the community," Kittle noted.

Corwin Automotive Group is also on track to build a new lot to house its Honda vehicles. The 3625 Missouri Blvd. lot will consist of a 31,100-square-foot building with full vehicle service department, a 4,250-square-foot detail shop and a vehicle display lot. Kittle said construction on the new location, just down the road from its current business, is set to begin in approximately 60 days.
