Girls Basketball: Helias 73, Soldan 24

WASHINGTON, Mo. — This one was decided early.

The Helias Lady Crusaders outscored Soldan 21-5 in the first quarter and cruised to a 73-24 decision in the loser’s bracket of the St. Francis Borgia Tournament.

Helias stretched its advantage to 39-12 at the half and took a 59-20 advantage into the final period.

Mai Nienhueser finished with 14 points for the Lady Crusaders, while Molly Sandbothe added 11 in her second game after returning from an injury.

Helias (12-7) will face Troy at 1:30 p.m today in the fifth-place game.
