BizBeat: Wilson's Yoga Studio readies for business

Wilson's Yoga Studio will officially open its doors for classes at its new Jefferson City location of 128 E. Dunklin St. on Tuesday.

Registered Yoga instructor Megan Sappington and Wilson's Fitness owner Keri Austin are seeing a vision come to life. Sappington said the space is even better than she imagined.

"It's amazing. It's mind-blowing. It's better, way better than we expected. It brought me to tears," she said last week.

The studio utilized the historical aspect of the building, keeping original tin ceilings, glass windows and brick features.

"Everything about this building is local. We've forgone the idea that we need to outsource anything," Sappington said. From the curtains, to the cubbies, everything is made by local people she said. Local artists are also working on creating decorative pieces for the space.

The space is a "historically amazing, beautiful property. I hope we can do it justice."

Wilson's Yoga Studio will open Tuesday with an all-new class schedule including hot yoga, a class not previously offered in the Capital City.

A yoga series especially for beginners will start Feb. 24, giving those who have never tried it a chance to learn the basics.

"It is an entry level introduction to yoga and what it's about, the basic poses, and what to expect," she said.

At the end of the four-week series the participants will receive free passes to try different classes.

The studio has several workshops lined up already, including therapeutic yoga and a women's retreat. A grand opening is planned for mid-March. Those interested in taking classes can sign up at either the Yoga Studio or at Wilson's Total Fitness. Class schedules can be found on the studio's website at www.wilsonsfitnessjeffcity.com/yoga-studio.php.
