Wintry mix of precipitation continues across Mid-Missouri

Winter storm warnings and advisories have been issued where a wintry mix of precipitation may result in hazardous driving conditions through midnight.

The National Weather Service issued the following statement for Mid-Missouri, including Jefferson City, Columbia, the Lake of the Ozarks and surrounding areas:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT...

  • TIMING...A BAND OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA THIS EVENING.
  • ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION AROUND ONE INCH.
  • WINDS...NORTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH.
  • IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADS...PARKING LOTS...AND SIDEWALKS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS ISSUED FOR A VARIETY OF WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS...SUCH AS SNOW...BLOWING SNOW...SLEET...OR FREEZING DRIZZLE AND RAIN. IT ONLY TAKES A SMALL AMOUNT OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION TO MAKE ROADS...BRIDGES...SIDEWALKS...AND PARKING LOTS ICY AND DANGEROUS. IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO TELL WHEN ICE BEGINS TO FORM...SO DO NOT BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD.
