DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Freshman center Jahlil Okafor scored 24 points and No. 2 Duke beat Wofford 84-55 on Wednesday.

Justise Winslow added 16 points and Quinn Cook had 15 for the Blue Devils (12-0).

They shot nearly 56 percent - 71 percent in the second half - and broke open a tight game by outscoring Wofford 43-21 in the final 20 minutes, then turned it into a full-on rout by scoring the final 13 points.

Okafor was 11 of 13 from the field while reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time in seven games.

Karl Cochran had 13 points on 5-of-17 shooting to lead the Terriers (9-4).

They shot 38 percent and kept it close well into the second half but went nearly 5 critical minutes between field goals while fading for their second straight loss. Both have come on the home floors of nationally ranked opponents.

No. 4 WISCONSIN 89, PENN STATE 72

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Frank Kaminsky had 18 points and 14 rebounds, Nigel Hayes scored 21 points and Wisconsin shot a blistering 63 percent from the field to beat Penn State.

The Badgers (13-1) won their sixth straight with Kaminsky leading a balanced attack. The preseason All-American had secured his sixth double-double of the season by midway through the second half with Wisconsin comfortably ahead by double digits.

D.J. Newbill scored 29 points for Penn State (12-2), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped. The Big Ten's leading scorer was 5-of-11 shooting in the second half after going 6 of 7 in the first.

Sam Dekker scored 17 for the Badgers and shot 7 of 10 from the field.

No. 6 VILLANOVA 67, BUTLER 55

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Ryan Arcidiacono scored 15 points and JayVaughn Pinkston had 13 to help Villanova beat Butler and match the best start in program history.

The Wildcats are 13-0 (1-0 Big East) for the first time since the 1937-38 season. That team lost for the first time in its 14th game.

Daniel Ochefu had 10 points and nine rebounds for Villanova, and Kris Jenkins scored 11.

Alex Barlow and Andrew Chrabascz both scored 12 points for Butler (10-4, 0-1).

The Big East-favorite Wildcats opened an 11-point lead in the first half and then built a second double-digit lead after the Bulldogs pulled within four at halftime.

No. 9 IOWA STATE 83, MVSU 33

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Naz Long made seven 3-pointers and scored a season-high 24 points as Iowa State cruised past Mississippi Valley State.

Jameel McKay added 10 points and six rebounds for the Cyclones (10-1), who shot 51 percent from the field to help Fred Hoiberg earn his 100th career win faster than any previous Iowa State coach.

Iowa State used a 13-0 run to build a 23-9 lead 9 minutes into the game and carried a 47-18 advantage into halftime. Bryce Dejean-Jones had eight points, six assists and five rebounds for the Cyclones, who held the Delta Devils (1-12) to 24.1 percent shooting in their sixth consecutive defeat.

Hoiberg reached 100 wins faster than any previous Iowa State coach.

SETON HALL 78, No. 15 ST. JOHN'S 67

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Sterling Gibbs had 25 points and eight assists to lead Seton Hall over St. John's in the Big East opener for both teams.

Jaren Sina added 14 points for the Pirates (11-2, 1-0) in their first victory over a ranked opponent since stunning No. 3 Villanova in the conference tournament last March.

The Red Storm (11-2, 0-1) had won seven straight since their only previous loss, 73-66 to then-No. 10 Gonzaga in late November.

Freshman forward Angel Delgado added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Seton Hall, and senior forward Brandon Mobley had 13 points with 10 boards.

D'Angelo Harrison paced St. John's with 25 points before fouling out.

No. 16 WICHITA STATE 66, DRAKE 58

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Ron Baker scored 23 points, including 13 straight down the stretch, and Wichita State opened league play with a hard-fought win over Drake.

Tekele Cotton had 17 points for the Shockers (11-2, 1-0 MVC), who answered a Christmas Day loss to George Washington with their 22nd straight Missouri Valley Conference victory.

But Wichita State struggled for much of the night against the team with the worst record in the Valley. The Shockers didn't take their first double-digit lead, 56-46, until there was 5:49 left.

Jacob Enevold had 12 points with 15 rebounds for Drake (3-10). The Bulldogs shot just 33 percent from the field.

No. 18 OKLAHOMA 61, GEORGE MASON 43

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Buddy Hield scored all but two of his 17 points in the first half, and Oklahoma shut down George Mason.

The Sooners improved to 9-3 in the final game for both schools before conference play begins.

Oklahoma's swarming defense held George Mason to 29.5 percent shooting from the field, including 0 for 14 on 3-pointers. The Sooners also forced 11 turnovers that led to 14 points.

George Mason (5-7) was led by Shevon Thompson's nine points and 11 rebounds.

No. 24 COLORADO STATE 71, BOISE STATE 65

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - John Gillon scored a career-high 25 points, converting a critical three-point play in the final minute, and Colorado State rallied for the win.

J.J. Avila had 13 points for Colorado State (14-0, 1-0 Mountain West), which extended its winning streak to 14 games, the longest single-season run in school history.

Boise State (10-4, 0-1) got 20 points from Mikey Thompson but fell to 6-43 against ranked teams.

Up by five at the half, the Broncos stretched their lead to 42-32 on Thompson's second 3-pointer of the game.

Colorado State battled back, going in front for the first time since the game's opening minutes on a 3-pointer by Gillon that made it 47-46 with 12:45 to play.

XAVIER 70, No. 25 GEORGETOWN 65

CINCINNATI (AP) - Jalen Reynolds scored 17 points, and Xavier beat Georgetown 70-53 in the Big East opener for both schools.

Remy Abell and Dee Davis had 12 points apiece for the Musketeers (10-3, 1-0), who held the Hoyas to 36 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers. James Farr added nine points and 10 rebounds.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 18 points for the Hoyas (8-4, 0-1), who had won three in a row and four of five. Josh Smith had 10 points.

Smith made a jumper with about 14 minutes left to get Georgetown within two, but Xavier responded with a 10-2 run. Trevon Bluiett capped the surge with two free throws that made it 49-39 with 9:13 remaining.
