St. Elizabeth rips Chilhowee in girls basketball

SEDALIA, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth girls basketball team pitched a shutout in one quarter and allowed just one basket in another while ripping Chilhowee 69-14 in the W-K Shootout on Tuesday at State Fair Community College.

The Lady Hornets raced out to a 20-0 lead after the first quarter. St. Elizabeth made 9-of-10 shots in the period, while Chilhowee managed just three shots and missed all of them.

The Lady Hornets led 32-6 at halftime and 60-12 after three quarters.

Brooke Struemph dropped in 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead St. Elizabeth (3-4). Shanley Kliethermes added 14 points and Megan Kemna and Mackenzie Struemph added 10 apiece.

Chilhowee (2-7) was led by Morgan VanMeter's 10 points.

St. Elizabeth returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Friday at South Callaway.
