AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Nneka Enemkpali had 14 points and 14 rebounds to help No. 3 Texas beat Rice 77-54 Tuesday night in its final tune-up before Big 12 competition begins on Saturday.

Enempkai, a 6-foot-1 senior, has produced double-doubles in five consecutive games, averaging 16.2 points and 12.8 rebounds during that span. She had her double against Rice in the first half - 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Empress Davenport scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half for Texas (11-0). Freshman Brooke McCarty, a reserve, also scored 13.

Alyssa Lang led Rice (5-6) with career-best 17 points, and Breion Allen scored 12. The Owls shot just 28 percent, second lowest by a Texas opponent this season. Rice missed eight shots and committed five turnovers before scoring its first points nearly five minutes into the game.

No. 9 NORTH CAROLINA 71, ALBANY 56

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Jessica Washington scored 16 points off the bench, and North Carolina beat Albany.

Allisha Gray added 15 points and Stephanie Mavunga had 14 for the Tar Heels (12-1).

Shereesha Richards led Albany (7-6) with 34 points, while Tiana-Jo Carter had seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Tar Heels played for the first time without junior forward Xylina McDaniel, who is out for the season after hurting her lower right leg in a win over Elon on Dec. 21. She is scheduled for surgery Wednesday. Senior guard Danielle Butts started in her place and finished with four points and 10 rebounds.

North Carolina outrebounded the Great Danes 42-34.

No. 21 SYRACUSE 74, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE 43

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Diamond Henderson scored 15 points, Briana Day had 11 points, 9 rebounds and a career-high 7 blocked shots and Syracuse overwhelmed Central Connecticut State.

Cornelia Fondren added 12 points and Alexis Peterson 11 for the Orange (10-3).

The Blue Devils (4-7), which trailed 36-20 at the half, shot just 30 percent and had 28 turnovers. TeJahne Malone and Nicole Ferguson had nine points apiece and Kayla Miller had 11 rebounds.

CCSU outrebound Syracuse 43-34, including 19 offensive rebounds, but didn't turn that into much. The Orange went 20 of 27 from the foul line while the Blue Devils were 3-4.

Brittany Sykes, in her second game since an injury in the NCAA tournament last year, had 5 points, 4 rebounds 3 steals and 2 assists for Syracuse, which closed the first half on a 10-0 run and steadily pulled away in the second half.

No. 23 SETON HALL 70, BUTLER 65

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (AP) - Daisha Simmons had 19 points and seven steals to lead Seton Hall past Butler.

With the victory, Seton Hall (13-1, 2-0 Big East) earned its best start in program history one day after entering the Top 25 for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Butler (4-9, 0-2) never led in the second half but stayed close with the Pirates most of the way. Seton Hall used a late 10-3 run to get some separation at 62-52 with 2:18 left and led by at least seven until the Bulldogs' 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Ka-Deidre Simmons scored 17 points, Bra'Shey Ali had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Janee Johnson added 13 and eight.

Loryn Goodwin had 20 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for Butler. Ijeoma Uchendu added 10 points and tied a season high with 20 rebounds.
