Your Opinion: Store's window display not appropriate for families

Dear Editor:

In a Dec. 14 story, Capital Mall General Manager Jamie Reed said, "If you look directly to your left to the Victoria's Secret window, you're going to see things that are way more suggestive than that T-shirt; and I haven't heard any complaints about the windows."

That is an out and out lie. I called him on the phone probably over a year ago and told him the Victoria Secret windows were very, very inappropriate and not at all family oriented. I went into the store and expressed the same; they just stand and look at you like you have lost your head.

My 8-year-old granddaughter was with me on Dec. 8 and she pointed out the windows and said, "I have a problem with that."

I have noticed they kind of toned the very front window down, but the corner and side windows look like they are displaying hookers. Everyone knows what the store is all about and can chose to go into it but it does not need to be plastered in the windows making it necessary to look at as you walk through the hallway with your family.

"We've been doing a tremendous amount of work to rebuild the reputation of the mall," Reed said. I am sure that as long as the people in Jefferson City feel as they do they will still not shop at the Mall. They will continue to travel to Columbia, St.Louis, Chicago, and Kansas City. Sorry, the truth always hurts.
