JC woman gets 10 years for drug possession

A Jefferson City woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a drug possession case.

Shuntell Miller, 34, of 811 E. Dunklin St., was found guilty after a bench trial.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the incident occurred in May at an apartment in the 200 block of Cherry Street.

A resident at the apartment called officers, asking them to remove Miller and others from the apartment. Upon officers' arrival, the door opened and revealed one of the people inside using illegal narcotics.

A search found methamphetamine, numerous small baggies to package narcotics and a digital scale in Miller 's purse.

Miller has prior convictions for narcotics use, possession and distribution, and has been on probation for distribution of a controlled substance.
