Tergin announces run for mayor; filing opens Tuesday

Former 4th Ward Councilwoman Carrie Tergin plans to run for Jefferson City mayor.

Tergin said Monday that she planned to file for the mayor's seat on Tuesday.

Tergin has served six years on the City Council, losing her most recent bid for re-election to Glen Costales in April.

Mayor Eric Struemph announced in October that he would not seek re-election. Third Ward Councilman Bob Scrivner has already announced his intention to run for mayor, as has Leonard Steinman.

The city's filing period begins Tuesday and ends Jan. 20. Offices open are: one council seat in each of the five wards, mayor, prosecutor and municipal judge. All are two-year terms except for the mayor, who serves a four-year term.
