Just a voice in support of The Rock Island Line Trail in Central Missouri.
I live on The Katy Trail and own a B&B that caters to cyclists using the trail. It has been my main source of income since the trail opened here. I have had hundreds of guests from all over the world and enjoyed them immensely. The people that use the trail have a huge appreciation for the beauty of our state and are constantly telling me how fortunate I am to live directly on it.
Many of my neighbors have similar businesses and experiences. I am hoping to be able to start another business up on the Rock Island Trail. I might be just small potatoes when it comes to business in Missouri but there are MANY more like me that want to do business along the Rock Island.
When you think that I bring in over $1,000 a year in sales tax receipts to My county and multiply that by the thousands of other small (and larger) businesses that a trail supports it becomes a HUGE amount of just direct tax dollars to our LOCAL community. Then We do business with other local businesses, and THEY do business locally, you can see the economic impact a trail has for a relatively small outlay.
