Ribbon cutting scheduled for Business 50 work

Cole County officials are planning on a Dec. 15 ribbon cutting for the Business 50 improvement project in Apache Flats.

Public works officials told county commissioners Thursday that the paving, striping and other finishing touches should be done no later than Dec. 18.

The $3.9 million project is the largest public works project the county has ever done, and county officials noted it will be done on time and have had very few complaints.

In other business, the commission declined an offer from JCTV to broadcast their meetings for a cost of $42,000. Commissioners noted their meetings are already streamed online via the county's website.

Commissioners also delayed action on painting and carpeting offices in the courthouse annex, something that hasn't been done since the county moved into the building.

It was noted that the commission recently had been told windows in the courthouse were not installed properly and that may have also happened in the annex. Improvements in the annex are on hold until questions about the annex's windows are resolved.
