SPRINGFIELD - For the second straight night, things got dicey for the Helias Crusaders in the fourth quarter of a game.
But unlike Thursday, the Crusaders held on for a win Friday night.
Playing in the loser's bracket of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Classic, the Crusaders pulled out a 61-59 victory against Springfield Glendale.
The Crusaders led the Falcons 17-15 after one quarter, 33-30 at halftime and 48-41 after three quarters.
With Helias leading 59-57, the Crusaders turned the ball over with 22 seconds left in the contest. The Falcons had a shot in the lane to tie it, but it came up just short.
After Helias hit 1-of-2 free throws, Glendale (0-2) made a pair with :02.4 remaining to get within 60-59. Helias then made 1-of-2 free throws with :00.3 left for the final margin and Glendale missed a desperation heave as time expired.
Isiah Sykes led Helias with 19 points.
The Crusaders (1-1) will play the host school Parkview at 3 p.m. today in the fifth-place game.
