COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Freshman forward A'ja Wilson had 17 points, Elem Ibiam scored 16 on 7-of-7 shooting and South Carolina coach Dawn Staley earned her 300th career victory as the top-ranked Gamecocks beat Charlotte 82-61 on Thursday night.

Alaina Coates had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Gamecocks, who improved to 7-0 for the third straight season. South Carolina got a much-tougher-than-expected tuneup in winning its 23rd straight at home before traveling to face No. 9 Duke on Sunday.

Charlotte (1-6) led 19-18 about 9 minutes in before the Gamecocks closed the opening half with a 28-9 run to move in front for good.

Lefty Webster had 17 points to lead the 49ers, whose six-game losing streak is the team's longest in 15 years.

No. 6 NORTH CAROLINA 96, No. 18 RUTGERS 93, 2 OT

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Allisha Gray scored a season-high 29 points and North Carolina rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat Rutgers in double overtime in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

It was only the second meeting between Hall of Fame coaches Sylvia Hatchell of North Carolina and C. Vivian Stringer of Rutgers. The two have combined for 1,878 victories and rank No. 2 and No. 3 on the career wins list, behind Pat Summitt.

In a back-and-forth game, Rutgers blew a 12-point lead over the final 9:47 of regulation. North Carolina (8-0) was up by five with 37 seconds left in overtime before the Scarlet Knights rallied to force another OT.

Gray converted a layup with a minute left and Latifah Coleman had a steal and layup to give North Carolina a 94-90 lead. Then she hit two free throws with 20.9 seconds left to seal it.

Betnijah Laney had 24 points and a career-best 24 rebounds to lead Rutgers (6-1). The Scarlet Knights had the longest current winning streak in the country with 12 straight wins dating to last season's WNIT championship run.

No. 7 LOUISVILLE 86, No. 22 IOWA 52

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Sara Hammond scored a season-high 19 points, Myisha Hines-Allen added 16 and Louisville ran away quickly from Iowa in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Seeking a good tuneup before Sunday's Bluegrass battle against No. 13 Kentucky, the Cardinals (8-0) never trailed in racing to an impressive first win over a ranked team this season. Hammond's 9-of-13 shooting led Louisville's 35-of-66 performance from the field, its fifth 50-percent shooting effort this season.

The Cardinals held the Hawkeyes (6-2) to 30 percent.

Mariya Moore had 12 points and six assists, and Bria Smith added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinals, who dominated the Hawkeyes 58-32 in the paint and outrebounded them 50-38.

Bethany Doolittle scored 12 points for Iowa, which fell to 0-2 against Louisville, with both meetings coming this year. The other one was an 83-53 drubbing in the second round of last spring's NCAA tournament.

No. 16 MICHIGAN STATE 79, GEORGIA TECH 73, OT

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Becca Mills scored the game-winning basket with 54 seconds to play in overtime and Michigan State rallied to beat Georgia Tech in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Tori Jankoska had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (5-1), who trailed 40-27 at halftime. Aerial Powers scored 17 with 14 rebounds and eight assists, Jasmine Hines had 16 points, and Mills added 12.

Sydney Wallace led the Yellow Jackets (5-4) with 22 points. Kaela Davis added 20, and Roddreka Rogers grabbed 12 rebounds.

Wallace tied it at 66 with a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.

No. 17 OREGON STATE 75, IDAHO 53

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Ruth Hamblin had 14 points and 12 rebounds as Oregon State beat Idaho 75-53 to open the season with six straight wins for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Hamblin recorded her fourth double-double of the season, and finished with six blocks. Sydney Wiese scored 16 points and shot 4 of 9 from beyond the arc. Jamie Weisner and Deven Hunter added 15 and 11 points for the Beavers, respectively.

Oregon State (6-0) held a 10-point lead at the break. The Beavers took off in the second half with a 13-0 run - which included six points from Hamblin - for the largest lead of the game, 64-39, with 9:23 left.

Stacey Barr led Idaho (3-3) with 21 points.

No. 19 GEORGIA 68, MERCER 49

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Shacobia Barbee was one of three Georgia players to score 12 points and she also made six steals in helping the undefeated Lady Bulldogs beat Mercer.

Tiaria Griffin and Mackenzie Engram also had 12 points for Georgia, which became the nation's first women's team to reach 9-0. Georgia had 18 steals as Mercer committed 23 turnovers, though the Bulldogs had 15 turnovers themselves.

The Bears (4-3) were led by Precious Bridges and Kahlia Lawrence with 13 points apiece, but Mercer shot just 35.6 percent.

No. 21 SYRACUSE 61, PENN STATE 39

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Briana Day had 15 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks as Syracuse defeated Penn State.

Brianna Butler scored 14 points and Cornelia Fondren added 10 with 10 boards and five assists for the Orange (6-1). Day recorded her fourth double-double of the season and had three of Syracuse's 14 steals.

Syracuse broke away in the first half with an 18-2 run sparked by Day. The Orange led by 16 at the break and pushed their lead to 22 at the midway mark of the second half.

Syracuse shot 30.1 percent from the field and went 7 of 40 on 3-pointers. But the Orange held Penn State (1-6) to 15-of-54 shooting (27.1 percent) and took advantage of 20 turnovers.

Lindsey Spann led the Nittany Lions with 11 points.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 80, No. 25 ARKANSAS 75, OT

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Macy Miller scored a career-high 20 points and South Dakota State upset Arkansas in overtime.

South Dakota State's first victory over a Top 25 team on the road since December 2008 ended Arkansas' 28-game winning streak in nonconference games and its 42-game streak in nonconference home games.

Chynna Stevens grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 17 points for South Dakota State (5-2), including a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in regulation that sent the game to overtime. Megan Waytashek added 14 points and Mariah Clarin 11.

Arkansas (6-1) was led by Kelsey Brooks' 28 points. Jhasmin Bowen added 20, and Melissa Wolff grabbed 16 rebounds.

Waytashek scored seven points in overtime, including a pair of free throws for a four-point lead with 29 seconds left.
