Jefferson City accident injures 5

Five people were treated for injuries after a three-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson City.

Police reports show the accident happened around 4:18 p.m. in the 2300 block of Missouri Boulevard in the area of Applebee's and Kmart.

The crash occurred as a vehicle driven by Rachelle Birdsong, 32, California, was exiting the parking lot near Applebee's, making a left turn to go west on Missouri.

While doing this, Birdsong's vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Taylor Mallory, 22, Jefferson City, who was going east in the inside lane.

That impact resulted in Mallory's vehicle crossing the center turn lane and striking a vehicle driven by Monica Porter, 40, California, which was going west in the outer lane.

Birdsong, Mallory and Porter were all treated for minor injuries as were two passengers in Mallory's vehicle, Brittney Johnson, 23, and James Downs II, 20, both of Jefferson City.

The crash scene required traffic on Missouri to be rerouted through nearby parking lots while the drivers and passengers were removed from their vehicles and the vehicles were taken from the scene.
