Attack lands man in prison for 3 years

A Jefferson City man was sentenced to three years in prison for pleading guilty to charges in connection with an August incident where authorities said he threatened to kill his wife with a gun and pistol-whipped her.

Pharis L. Davis, 25, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and felony receiving stolen property. Charges of second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action were dismissed.

Court records show Davis pointed a handgun at his wife's head, repeatedly threatening to kill her, and then beating her in the head with the gun. He then disabled her cellphone and walked off from their apartment. She went to a neighbor for help, and the neighbor later called police when Davis displayed a gun from his car as he ordered his wife to get in the car with him.

A search of a different neighbor's apartment later produced two guns that Davis had hidden. The victim identified one of the guns as the one she was beaten and threatened with. It had been stolen from Popular Bluff.
