Jays roll past Lebanon at wrestling dual

LEBANON, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays figured bonus points would be the key to Tuesday night's wrestling dual against the Lebanon Yellowjackets.

They totaled a lot of them on their way to a 58-18 victory.

"The kids wrestled well," Jays coach Phil Cagle said. "It was a great opener for us, the kids kept wrestling hard."

Winning by fall for the Jays were Peter Kuster (113 pounds), Zach Hurley (145), Logan Moriarity (160), Tekoah Sage (182), Jalen Martin (195) and Ian Coil (220).

Christian Mayberry won by technical fall for the Jays at 132. Taking major decisions were Corbin Howard at 126 and Jacob Brune at 152. Logan Coil won by decision at 285, while Dennis Barnes won by forfeit at 120.

It was the 21st straight dual win for the Jays (1-0), who will host Camdenton next Tuesday to open their home schedule.

The Jays also won the JV (57-18) and C team (33-27) duals Tuesday.
