In hopes they are moving into an untapped market, Jennifer Neff and business partner Kat Dake will set up shop literally anywhere. The artists are soon opening a mobile art studio, with a clever name to match.
Gypsy Studio will host a grand opening on Sept. 16 at Madison's Cafe in downtown Jefferson City. Madison's will have dinner specials, while the public is invited to join the creative fun.
"There are a lot of paint party establishments in Jefferson City," Neff said. "We want to take our show on the road."
Gypsy Studio will be available for paint parties in homes, businesses, restaurants, parks, etc. The potential possibilities are endless, Neff said.
The new business owner is comparing the concept to that of an in-home party, but with a set $30 per person price. That amount gets you a painting design, with step-by-step instructions, the instructor herself and all the supplies. Neff and Dake will come to your home or business, set up, teach and tear down. "We're not selling anything but a good time."
Neff and Dake bring a lot of experience to the table and are natural teachers. Even if customers have little-to-no art skills, these classes will be great. Date nights, mother/daughter classes, bosses and employees, Gypsy Studio can design a project specific to the event for no extra charge.
"It's so fun," Neff said. "We pre-design all of the paintings for adults to accomplish in three hours, even if they have no art skills."
Neff and Dake both work with the Twisted Canvas now and decided there may be an untapped market. They hope to host small parties with this new endeavor, where quality is more important than quantity, and everyone is able to relax and have fun.
The grand opening event begins at 6 p.m. on Sept. 16. Madison's Cafe owner Rob Agee said he's glad to be a part of the start of a new Jefferson City business.
"We know their launch event at Madison's will be just the wonderful beginning for this creative, new business. We look forward to this grand opening and future partnerships with Gypsy Studio on site at Madison's or at your location."
