Your Opinion: Transportation tax encompassed too much

Dear Editor:

MoDOT and the Legislature developed a very aggressive transportation plan and in spite of major funding from special interest groups the voting public didn't buy it.

Remember a few years ago Jefferson City developed a tax plan that included every dream special interest groups ever had and it failed miserably.

Perhaps if the transportation plan had not included funding for airports, railroads, cities, public transportation, sidewalks, trails, etc., and concentrated on roads and bridges that needed rebuilding or repairing without a whole host of new projects (30 down from hundreds, according to MoDOT), it would have passed.
