Paving scheduled for Friday in Apache Flats

The center lane of the Business 50 improvement project in Apache Flats is scheduled to be paved on Friday, weather permitting.

Cole County Public Works officials said traffic is not expected to be impacted except for routine things like trucks entering and leaving the roadway.

After paving, there will be two paved lanes of traffic open and the contractor, Don Schnieders Excavating, will begin doing concrete work on the south side of the road and likely be ready to pave the eastbound lane within three weeks.

The traffic signal poles and mast arms at Pioneer Trail Drive are installed, but the signal lights are not functioning. The preliminary schedule is by the time there are three paved lanes the lights will be fully functional and that should occur by the middle of September. In the meantime there will be a temporary four-way stop at the Pioneer Trail intersection.
