4 arrested after drug raids in JC

Four people were arrested following two drug raids in Jefferson City.

On Wednesday the Jefferson City Police Department's SWAT Team served a search warrant at two separate residences located in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Street.

The search warrants were the result of a joint MUSTANG Drug Task Force and Jefferson City Police Department's Community Action Team investigation which involved the distribution of controlled substances and illegal possession of firearms.

The first search warrant was conducted at 1009A Buena Vista Street. Marijuana, a substance suspected to be the club drug Molly, drug money and a firearm were seized during the search which resulted in two arrests.

Dominique Helton, 24, Jefferson City, who was on parole for burglary, vehicle theft and resisting arrest, was being held Thursday in the Cole County Jail with a $25,000 bond. She is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Chonsie Clayton, 22, Jefferson City, is currently was also being held on a $25,000 bond and is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Information acquired following the first search led to the execution of a second search warrant at 1009 B Buena Vista Street. Methamphetamine and marijuana were seized during the search which led to two additional arrests.

Nicholas Birdsong, 28, Jefferson City, who was on parole for the distribution of controlled substances, forgery and resisting arrest, was being held on a $50,000 bond for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count of driving while revoked.

James Morris, 34, Jefferson City, was a parole fugitive and was being held for parole violations.

Additional arrests are expected.
