Your Opinion: Clarity needed on "Right to Farm'

Dear Editor:

I guess it's not a sure thing it's passed, but now that it looks like "Freedom to Farm" is an unalienable right. I hope that either the paper or someone knowledgeable will write in and let us know what that means.

As a landlord or tenant or home-owner association, does that mean someone has the right to farm as many critters as they want in whatever conditions they see fit? As an fundamental right, I'm not sure if unconstitutional lease or rental language, real estate covenants, home owner agreements, etc. have much ability to restrict. If only counties have limited authority (maybe) to regulate it, is the cat lady down the block free to do whatever and the city is powerless?

What does this do with all the local ordinances governing urban chickens and other livestock? I thought this amendment was a bad idea because it was way too vague, and I hope somebody can give me some clarity.
