Missouri to meet Arizona in Maui Invitational

The Missouri Tigers will open against the Arizona Wildcats in the championship round of the Maui Invitational in November.

The Tigers and the Wildcats will meet at 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, in Maui, Hawaii. It's Missouri's fourth appearance in the Invitational, the last coming in 1997. The Tigers won the event in 1989. Arizona is in the field for the sixth time.

Missouri and Arizona have split the previous two meetings. Missouri was a 76-73 winner in the Hawaii Pacific Invitational in Honolulu in the 1984-85 season. Arizona defeated Missouri 92-72 in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament on March 26, 1994, in Los Angeles.

Other teams in the field include Brigham Young, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, San Diego State and host Chaminade.

The three-day event will conclude Wednesday, Nov. 26.

In an opening round game of the Invitational, Missouri will host Missouri-Kansas City on Friday, Nov. 14. The start time of that game has not been announced.
