The latest edition of "Boys Gone Wild" is set for this evening, as the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital City holds its 10th annual Men of the Club fundraiser.

The entertaining fundraiser draws 700-900 people annually to Capitol Plaza Hotel to watch prominent Jefferson City men in skits that range from the serious to the sexy to the silly. It's a chance for the guys to show off their talents - and sometimes a good amount of their bodies - while giving the ladies (and some boyfriends/husbands) a chance to unwind and have a good time for a good cause.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m.

The event raised about $40,000 last year for the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital City. Executive Director Stephanie Johnson has said that money raised helps pay the cost for low-income kids to attend the club at no cost.

"If a child is on free or reduced lunches at school, they can attend the club for free," Johnson said. "About 90 percent of the kids who come are on free and reduced lunches, so we need all the help we can get."

The club picks children up after school, helps them with their homework and feeds them a hot dinner. They also get exposed to anti-drug/alcohol programs and get a chance to do craft projects. "It's just things to keep them occupied and off the streets," Johnson said.

After a change last year, this year's event brings back the format featuring contestants in three different skit categories: swimwear, talent and evening wear. Eight men will compete for the title of Mr. Capital City.

Johnson said a handful of tickets are available, and people can call 573-634-2582 to reserve them. The remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $25.

A cash bar will be available and the hotel sells food items such as chicken strips and nachos. Attendees also are encouraged to bring any denomination of bills to support their favorite contestants.

"It's going to be a great show," she said. "It's kind of a ladies night out, and it's ultimately to help the Boys and Girls Club."
