JC man gets probation for sodomy

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to a charge of second-degree statutory sodomy in connection with a sexual assault case from December 2013.

A charge of second-degree statutory rape was dismissed against Michael Yerkes, 38.

As part of his probation, Yerkes must serve 120-day shock detention, with credit for time served and complete the Missouri Sex Offender Program.

The crime occurred in the 200 block of Ash Street.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show Yerkes had sex with a female younger than 17.

Yerkes was staying with another man who was a registered sex offender.

The female victim had been reported missing from a nearby community, but was found to be with the two men. She said she walked home with Yerkes after meeting him in the area of the library.

Both men and the female victim admitted to being intoxicated when these events occurred.
