Your Opinion: Refusal to recognize, confront evil

This letter is written in response to Mr. Haslag's letter published July 25. It has become very clear to me that our differences in opinion regarding the Iraq war will never be reconciled. I say this because this ongoing debate regarding President Bush's congressionally approved decision to invade Iraq is really a cover to avoid a debate of the real underlying issue dividing and destroying this country, the refusal to recognize, address and have the courage to eliminate evil.

George Bush and his administration had the courage to recognize the evil of Islamic terrorism, address it in accordance with the requirements of the law, and acted to stop it, and he did in Iraq and Libya. He and his administration could foresee the future of Iraq's oil revenues continuing to fund Al-Qaeda that Saddam Hussein was doing behind the scenes. Haslag says this was a fool's errand.

The Democrats, in their quest for power with the support of the mainstream media, were able to successfully label George Bush a liar and warmonger to get Obama elected. Obama immediately, in typical liberal politically correct fashion, removed terrorist from the government and media vocabulary. This act started, and is the cornerstone of his foreign policy, the refusal to acknowledge the evil and the goals of radical Islamic terrorism, as did George Bush. The results of this dysfunctional foreign policy are now obvious and with Obama as commander-in-chief one can only wonder when or if he will ever admit there is actually evil in the world that must be defeated.

Those of my generation were educated in schools where patriotism and Christian morality were considered as important as the 3 Rs. It is now very painful to watch our nation being reduced to a shambles by a leadership and citizenry that seem to have no pride in our country or Christian morality worth fighting for. This is a direct result of the replacement of patriotism and Christian morality with the teaching of tolerance and diversity. Obama is now ignoring our laws for no other reason than to pander to voters of this ideology of tolerance to promote the liberal agenda.

To refuse to recognize and address evil in the name of tolerance is the real religion of the left and that is why all liberals must constantly attempt to destroy anyone who believes otherwise (i.e. George Bush, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, etc.).
