The Discover Jefferson City Foundation is getting ready for its annual fundraiser that plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Missouri State Penitentiary riot of 1954.
The fundraiser, planned for Sept. 18, will be held at the Warden's Home, known as the Marmaduke House, at 700 E. Capitol Ave.
The event will include hors d'oeuvres from Prison Brews, drinks, music from the Dirt Leg Benders, history of the riot and a Marmaduke Home presentation. Tickets are $50 and attendees must be at least 21 years old.
The Discover Jefferson City Foundation is dedicated to supporting the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau. All proceeds from the event will go toward promoting the Missouri State Penitentiary tours and other top priority activities.
