BizBeat: Dreams to Reality to host open house

Jefferson City's Dreams to Reality is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Tuesday to celebrate some big changes to its 512 Jefferson St. building.

Director of Operations Lorie Smith said the celebration is planned in honor of a remodel and new welcome room. Funds provided by JC Laser and Vein helped renovate the welcome room, making space available for personal training and resume writing. The space has been rearranged and remodeled, with new carpets and donated artwork.

The local business will celebrate its 15-year anniversary next year and has a goal to serve 250 women in 2014.

"We help low-income women in Missouri meet their employment goals and build self-confidence by providing appropriate interview and business apparel, motivation and follow-up support," Smith said. "We have a lot of women who have helped volunteer over the years who may want to come in" and see the progress.

Dreams to Reality takes donations of business and business casual attire, every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m. It also has a masquerade ball fundraiser coming up on Oct. 24. Tickets to "Transforming Women's Lives" can be purchased at www.dreamstoreality-jc.org.
