Hot Bike Power Tour coming to Jefferson City

A new event will be coming to Jefferson City in August - a rolling motorcycle rally.

In a press conference later today, the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau is expected to announce the Hot Bike Power Tour will be coming to the area Aug. 17.

According to the event website, the tour - a five-day, 1,000 mile tour - will kick off in Joplin on Aug. 16.

The ride departs the next morning for Jefferson City, "where riders can rejoin the party for a fun evening of shows and entertainment. This formula for fun repeats each day of the tour, though the experience is never the same. The ride concludes in Wisconsin Dells as riders roll into town after spending five amazing days creating a million stories and memories," the website states.

In February, the Cole County Commission approved a $2,500 contribution to help cover the costs of the event. At the time, Chris Wilson, with the CVB, said the event is expected to bring 500 to 800 people to the area and the cost to host it is $5,000.

Wilson had said the CVB already raised $2,500 before the commission's contribution.

The press conference to announce the event, and other details of hosting it, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Spectators on East High Street and is open to the public. Jeff Holt, editor in chief of Hot Bike magazine, will attend the press conference and there will be food, drinks and giveaways.
