ASHLAND - The Blair Oaks freshmen swept a doubleheader Monday from Southern Boone.
Blair Oaks won the opener 9-2. Thomas Verslues worked the first six innings for the win, while Clayton Backes pitched the seventh.
Ethan Rackers and Nathan Gipe had two hits, two runs and an RBI each for the winners. Garrett Welschmeyer had two hits and two RBI for the Falcons.
Backes got the start and the win in the five-inning second game, won by Blair Oaks 6-4. He pitched two inninngs before Cole Sandbothe worked the final three frames for the save.
Blair Oaks (16-5) will play a doubleheader today at Russellville.
