Pancakes from, for Russellville PTO

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - About 65 pounds of pancake batter, 80 pounds of fresh sausage and 70 dozen eggs were fixed up by the Russellville PTO Sunday at its fourth annual Pancake Breakfast.

The largest fundraiser for the parent-teacher organization, they hoped to collect $4,000, same as 2013's event.

About half of the pancake breakfast's revenue comes through the from-scratch meal and the other half from the silent auction bids. For the second year, the PTO also made available school-spirit merchandise.

The 30 or so volunteers were both PTO parents and teachers, as well as members of the middle school Beta Club.

Beautification projects outside the school are among ideas, which would benefit from Sunday's proceeds, in the upcoming school year, said vice president Lori Schulte.

Throughout the year, the PTO focuses on projects that will support teachers, such as appreciation week activities and Christmas gifts.

They also provide student programs, like the school store incentive program, which has benefited in recent years from community and business donations.
