Helias takes second at tennis tournament

HANNIBAL, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders took second place Saturday in the Hannibal Tournament.

The host school won with 29 points, while Helias had 20 and Troy was third with 11.

Finishing second in singles for Helias in their various flights were:

• Ethan Lesko, won 6-2, 6-0 against a Troy player and lost 4-6, 6-7 (4-7 tiebreaker) to Hannibal.

• Caleb Seidel, won against Troy 6-3, 6-4 and lost to Hannibal 1-6, 0-6.

• Jeremy Wolters, won 6-0, 6-1 against Troy and lost to Hannibal 2-6 ,0-6.

• TJ Hagenhoff, lost 1-6, 1-6 to Hannibal and won 6-1, 6-2 to Troy.

• Ryan Pollock, lost 6-4, 4-6, 10-2 (match tiebreaker) to Hannibal and won against Troy 6-2, 6-2.

Finishing third in his flight was Kirk Twehous, who lost 1-6, 2-6 to Hannibal and 4-6, 0-6 against Troy.

Doubles winners were:

• Mark Lamb and Jordan Roling, who beat Hannibal 6-2, 6-0.

• Mark Lamb and Jordan Cowell, who beat Troy 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker), 6-3.

• Finishing second in doubles were:

• Braden Toebben and Klint Braun, who won against Troy 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 (match tiebreaker) and lost to Hannibal 4-6, 3-6.

• David Huber and Dane Haugen, who won against Hannibal 0-6, 6-3, 12-10 (match tiebreaker) and lost to Troy 4-6, 6-4, 5-10 (match tiebreaker).

• Adam Bexten and Holden Hirsch, who won against Troy 6-2, 6-4 and lost to Hannibal 3-6, 6-4, 6-10 (match tiebreaker).
