Jefferson City’s downtown was buzzing this past week with two anticipated businesses opening their doors.

Towne Grill, 315 Jefferson St., reopened last week under former owners Gloria Vogt and Lisa Castillo after being closed since mid-February. The historic restaurant opened with a fresh look in the dining room and familiar faces behind the counter.

The owners said all the favorites were back on the menu and that customers can expect the same great food from a business that’s been feeding the Capital City for more than 70 years.

Capitol City Cinema also opened this week with its official grand opening held Wednesday. The cinema, owned by Capitol City CORK and Provisions restaurateur Jami Wade, opened with the showing “Particle Fever.” Movies will be shown in the 126 E. High St. theater Wednesdays through Sundays. For show times and upcoming movies, visit capitolcitycinema.org or visit the cinema’s Facebook page.

Not open yet but opening soon is Fine Mess Boutique. Downtown pedestrians have undoubtedly noticed the bright teal walls and construction happening at the 222 E. High St. storefront. Owner Nikki Payne announced the May 17 grand opening for the shop on social media last week. She said Fine Mess Boutique will feature new clothing and accessories at affordable prices, catering to teenagers to middle-aged women, sizes small to 3X.

Payne is also the owner of the resale store Snob Shop Exchange, located across the street from the new boutique.
