Winners of fishing tournament announced

More than 50 top anglers from five states competed for cash and prizes April 8 in the Cabela's King Kat Tournament on the Missouri River at Jefferson City.

The fishermen also had the chance to qualify for the 2014 Cabela's King Kat East and West Championship in September on the Mississippi and Rock Rivers at Quad Cities, Iowa and in October on Lake Watersee at Camden, S.C.

In the JC contest, taking first place was John Jamison of Spring Hill, Kan., and Mark Thompson of Williamsburg, Kan., weighing in 52.56 pounds and earning $3,000. The team is sponsored by Cabela's, Rippin Lips and Driftmaster Prostaff.

In second place was Craig Shoemate of Centralia, with 45.74 pounds and earning $1,200.

Third place went to Carl Morris Jr. of Johnstown, Ohio, and Jeremy Martin of Dayton, Ohio, with 45.54 pounds and earning $500. Morris and Martin also captured big fish of the event with a 42.92 pound cat giving the team an additional $610.

Andrew Little of Ashland and Jeff Singer of Hartsburg took fourth place with a weight of 38.84 pounds and earning $300.

Fifth place went to Richard Bower of Jefferson City and Terry Bloomer of Holts Summit,with 33.24 pounds.
