Police: 13-year-old was driving for drunk dad

FORISTELL, Mo. (AP) - Police in a St. Louis suburb who pulled over a swerving pickup truck say they found a 13-year-old driving because his dad was intoxicated.

Foristell Police Chief Douglas Johnson says the boy was pulled over Saturday after an officer saw the truck swerving along eastbound Interstate 70.

His 46-year-old father said he asked his son to drive because he had too much to drink while they were at a baseball game.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the man refused to do field sobriety tests but a breath sample indicated his blood-alcohol content was 0.139 percent. He was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment and permitting an underage person to drive.

Police say it was the first time the boy had driven.
