The Lewis and Clark eighth-grade boys and girls swept the titles in a track meet with four Columbia middle schools Monday.
On the boys side, the Trailblazers racked up 119 points to easily beat second-place Gentry, which had 85. Mason York was a triple-winner for Lewis and Clark, taking first in the pole vault, shot put and discus, while Isaac Summers was a double-winner, taking first in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash.
The margin was even greater in the girls meet, where the Lady Blazers had 182 to just 60.5 for second-place Gentry. Lewis and Clark had two triple-winners in Niya Slaughter (100- and 200-meter dashes and long jump) and McKenzie Gourley (1,600- and 800-meter runs and high jump) and two double-winners in Stephanie Fisher (pole vault and triple jump) and Jessica Rhodes (shot put and discus).
