Lincoln gets first home win of season

The Lincoln Blue Tigers earned a non-conference split against Truman State on Tuesday.

Lincoln rallied in the bottom of the sixth to claim a 7-4 win in the opener, before the Bulldogs bounced back with a 4-1 victory in Game 2.

Lincoln was outhit 11-7 in Game 1, but the Blue Tigers took advantage of three errors to end a 26-game losing streak and pick up their first victory since March 11.

It was also Lincoln's first home win this season.

James Earleywine was 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Gatlin Wiggans, Kaleb Davis, Christian Bunch and Nick Lovell all drove in a run to help lead Lincoln at the plate.

Joshua Register received the win after throwing 2/3 of an inning without allowing a run.

John Bisges retired the last two batters of the game to pick up his second save this season.

Zach York allowed four runs (two earned) on 10 hits while walking one and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings.

Lincoln trailed 4-0, but the Blue Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good.

In the nightcap, Lincoln tallied four hits and committed one error.

Earleywine, Wiggans, Lovel and Logan Smith all had hits to lead the Blue Tigers at the plate.

Joe Jungmeyer allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings. Ian Fuemmeler received the loss after allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out four in 2 2/3 innings.

Lincoln is now 2-37 on the season, while Truman State is 20-22.

The Blue Tigers will host Southwest Baptist in a four-game Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association series, starting at 3 p.m. Friday.
