Falcons fall in tourney title game

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons came up a little short.

After winning its first two games of the Columbia Tournament, Blair Oaks surrendered six unearned runs in the fourth inning of the championship game as Rock Bridge claimed a 7-2 victory Saturday.

The Falcons, ranked No. 7 in Class 3, are now 13-3 on the year.

Clayton Graessle allowed six runs (no earned) on five hits in 32/3 innings, and James Reinkemeyer pitched the final 21/3 innings, surrendering one run on three hits in the title game.

Logan Bax was 1-for-2 and drove in a run, while Hayden Haney added an RBI to lead the Falcons at the plate.

In the first game Saturday, Blair Oaks cruised to an 8-2 win against Hallsville.

Shintaro Hatashima was the winning pitcher after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing two hits. Collin Luebbering allowed two runs (one earned) in the final two innings.

Logan Gratz was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, while Bax was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Dalton Fifer added a hit and drove in a run to help pace the Falcons at the plate.

In the opening round on Friday, Blair Oaks held on to claim a 6-5 win against Hickman in eight innings.

Cody Stegeman was credited with the win after throwing two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Bax allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits, while striking out one and walking four in six innings.

Seth Eskens hit a two-run home run, while Stegeman and Fifer added a hit and an RBI apiece. Bax chipped in with two hits.

The Falcons will play Tuesday at Warsaw.
